Helau!!!! Street Carnival and Parade on Rosenmontag
More than 70 floats were built over the last 10 months and now lots of bands, Carnival groups and people wearing costumes and running through the streets of Düsseldorf.
Everybody is screaming "Helau" as the carnival greeting to scare the winter away!!
After 6 hours of Street Carnival we were very happy to find the a outdoor heat lamp at a nearby bar...
Later we switched to another bar in the Altstadt to finish off our Street Carnival day.
We’re happy to report that Morgs has quickly adjusted to life in Düsseldorf – sleeping, eating, sleeping, using the Katzenklo, sleeping, yacking up a hairball, sleeping, eating... I guess she figures it’s all about the same, regardless of the country she’s in.
Haarkneul (Hairball) count, since arrival in Germany: 46
Don’t tell mom I’m eating raw pork! This hedgehog creature is a specialty German dish, traditional to this area, called “Mettigel“. It is actual ground (raw!) pork from the butcher,
and you eat it spread over fresh bread. René will strongly attest to the fact that there are many seasonings in the meat that prevent anything from going bad (as long as you eat it quickly) and that
ultimately this dish is safer for you than sushi.
WTF
Fleischsalat??? Meat salad for the perfect breakfast ;-)
